Paul Roden
Textile Design

Paul’s collection of luxurious ‘grown up’ fabrics, celebrates elements of hedonism, sparkle and youthful excitement are intended for the commercial boutique hotel/ bar or fabulous home market. Intrigued by the juxtaposition of the perceived opulence and luxury of the earlier fairground creations against their mass market, Buck Rodgers, Studio 54 ‘disco-fication’ of the 1970’s, Paul fuses printing techniques associated with the late 19^th Century and 1970’s fairgrounds; block printing methods of the 19^th Century and t-shirt printing techniques and materials of the 1970s.

Hannah Livingston
Jewellery Design

Hannah's work explores the idea of jewellery as a blank canvas for our lives. Taking cues from Victorian sentimentality, a childhood fascination with concealment, and 18th & 19th century furniture, her work creates opportunity for personal narratives to blossom.

Ursula Cheng
Illustration

Ursula's illustrations are a personal emotive and curious response to the relationships we have with one another and our reliance on the modern environment. She is intrigued by the exploration of self identity and social/human behaviors. The nature of my work heavily relies on intuition. Her work is about the individual and an escapist reality that she exists in.

Angela Pointon
Ceramics



Angela gives a new lease of life to everyday objects by creating them in porcelain and integrating colourful drawings. This lifts them out of the ordinary. Angela is based in Glasgow.

Jenny's work is inspired by the patterns and structures of modern innovative architecture. Using a variety of printed and constructed techniques she has created a collection of fashion textiles that appear both optically and literally 3d.

Soizig Carey
Jewellery Design



As an artist and jeweller, Soizig’s investigations concentrate principally on identifying and translating narratives, whether they are based on reality or the imaginary. Soizig works predominantly in metal and includes other media such as plastics when appropriate to the design, producing large scale sculptural objects and body pieces.

Elin Isaksson
Glass Design



Elin Isaksson Glass creates bespoke handcrafted sculptural, lighting and architectural glass for individual and corporate clients by commission. Her new lighting range uses blown glass combined with traditional skills and contemporary aesthetics producing chandeliers and innovative glass pendants. Products also include functional objects and bespoke awards.

Joseph's work focuses on the relationship between body and cloth, garmentand wearer, creating designs which aim to combine the two and create a total alliance between a woman and her clothing.

Angharad McLaren
Textile and Product Design

Angharad is a textile designer creating fresh and original contemporary woven design distinctive by the use of bright colour and unusual materials suitable for interiors, fashion or accessories. Her textiles can be made-to-measure for special projects and some are available in her product range which includes rugs, cushions and scarves.

Alex Milsom
Illustration/Mezzotint

The velvety blackness and intimate scale of the Mezzotint provides a window to a dreamlike world. A world of childhood narrative imbued with adult insight. These fairytales are acted out with human and animal characters that address issues based upon the human condition. Editions are kept to a limited amount, to retain the fine details.

Milliner



Designer milliner Sally-Ann Provan creates modern millinery with vintage echoes. Sally's couture pieces and diffusion collection offer wearable elegance for everyday and every occasion.





Emma Henderson/Showpony
Textiles and Products



Showpony produces screen printed textiles for you and your home. Trompe l'oeil prints and fun details are key feature of Emma's work which she combines with strong eco credentials to create a range of bags, accessories and home wears.

Marc Noble is a freelance illustrator and comic artist based in Edinburgh. His work focuses on characters, using both digital and traditional methods to tell their stories.

Illustration and Apparel Design




Genevieve is interested in how illustration can be applied to products, particularly within the skate and snowboard industries. Genevieve enjoys working as part of a design team and is currently collaborating on books, exhibitons, window displays and events.





Sarah Brown
Jeweller



Sarah's explores the raw beauty of the island environment she grew up on. Details that are often overlooked become the focus for her investigation; growth and decay, subtle colour changes and the treasures brought in by each flow of the tide.




Nick Ross
Product Design

Within his work Nick tries to use designed objects as an embodied critique or commentary on our modern culture. The product, its use and the process of designing such a product causes reflection on existing values and practices in culture.

'Unless he builds the house'. Inspired by the eclectic mix of forms, material, colour and pattern found within and around the home, Lauren creates pieces that are both playful and intricate. It is her aim that the viewer and wearer find their own memories and stories associated with the imagery she uses.

Tara Khorzad/BANG!Boutique
Fashion

BANG!Boutique is a contemporary eco-fashion label: unique, eye-catching and made within an ethical and environmentally friendly ethos.

We have now selected a group of designers to showcase their work at the first Gin Palace event 'The Shape of Things to Come' which will be held in Glasgow at the end of November. Kitty & Dude has a ‘tongue in cheek’ appeal teamed with a potent nod towards 1950’s design and culture; Cosima likes to combine contrasting ideas, focusing on designs that delight both aesthetic and intellectual senses.
